Kollgut™ Sutures (Chromic or Plain Catgut) Description: KOLLGUT™ (Chromic gut) is a collagen absorbable obtained from bovine animals and the serosa of the cows. Both are intestinal membrane. These are washed and sliced lengthwise into strips of variable width, classified according to the desired diameter, twisted, bathed in chromic salt*, dried and polished selected by diameter. *Chromic salt prolongs the time of absorption of the stitch in the body while the tissue heals. Type of thread: Multifilament twisted monofilament, with polished surface Reabsorption time: Absorption by enzyme. Strength Retention Profile about 21 - 28 days after implantation. Predictable absorption (loss of mass) in 90 days. Benefits of the Suture: Easy passage through tissue Thread color: Kollgut™ sutures are Dark brown color Available thread sizes: USP 8/0 to 4 / Metric 0.4 to 6 Available length: From 150, 120, 100, 90, 80, 75, 70, 60, 50, 45 and 30 cm, with one or two or without needle, from one thread to 10 threads above. Type of final presentation: The envelopes containing the sutures are packaged in a duly identified and protected with a cardboard box laminating plastic thermocontractable. The quantity can be: 12, 24 or 36 envelopes in each box. Type of sterilization: Kollgut™ Chrom sutures are sterilized through a process of (Co-60) gamma irradiation. Expiration Date: Kollgut™ Chrom sutures have an expiry date of 5 years from manufacture. Color of identification: Kollgut™ Chrom Sutures are identified by the brown color on the box label.
